Evolver:
Analyzing Software Evolution
with Animations and 3D-Visualizations

Evolver
Evolver

The Evolver tool deals with visual analysis of software evolution.
The main problem when analyzing the evolution of large scale software systems
is the extraordinary amount of data. Especially if the analysis goals are defined
vaguely, we can not define a countable number of metric values to answer our
analysis questions.

Visualization allows us to visualize a high number of metric values and to
capture trends and irregularities with our cognitive skills. With the
Evolver we provide a tool that tightly integrated different
visualizations. Each visualization benefits from features such as animation
or 3D presentation.

The tool has been realized on basis of the OpenGL binding for Java (JOGL)
integrated into the Eclipse IDE.
